Local Food Trucks Offer More than a Bite to Eat

The Washington State Food Truck Association (WSFTA) is committed to enhancing the success of food trucks amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Executive Director Lori Johnson notes that food trucks have faced significant challenges, losing regular customer access and catering opportunities due to stay-at-home orders. In response, the WSFTA partnered with the City of Bellevue and the nonprofit Nourishing Networks to launch the Mobile Meal Alliance, which has provided over 13,800 meals to those in need while offering operational support to food vendors. Donations are equitably distributed to various community organizations seeking to reserve food trucks for affordable meal options. Furthermore, the WSFTA aims to increase food truck accessibility in downtown Bellevue, navigating complex city regulations and previous halted plans. Recent developments in workplace protocols, including Microsoft's return-to-office announcement, may lead to increased foot traffic and economic activity in the area. Johnson expresses optimism about future collaborations with the city to enhance food truck presence and community engagement. Explore local food truck options through the WSFTA’s food truck finder to discover delicious culinary offerings.
