Council Roundup Mid-biennium budget discussions begin

Bellevue City Council introduced proposed mid-biennium budget adjustments for the 2025-2026 budget during its recent meeting, focusing on major council priorities. These adjustments include a potential 1% property tax increase, equating to a $15 rise for a $1.5 million property, and new fee schedules for city services. The proposed sewer rate increase reflects a change from 7.6% to 7.9% due to higher wholesale costs from the King County Wastewater Treatment Division. Additionally, the council reviewed community feedback aimed at enhancing Bellevue's brand identity, which highlighted the importance of clear communication and the use of trusted local messengers. The feedback will inform a detailed plan for brand improvements with both short- and long-term strategies. A public hearing is scheduled for November 12 to gather community input on the proposed budget adjustments. Final adoption of the budget is anticipated in late November, aligning with the city's ongoing efforts to ensure timely service while maintaining competitive fees. The presentation regarding budget adjustments is available on Bellevue Television replay.
